Dear cnelsen the same way "socialist" is not used in American culture
to mean LITERALLY owned by govt, but the regulations on it are run through govt,
same is true with these other labels.
"fascist" is used more loosely to mean authoritarian/dictatorship type style.

Both left and right see the other political group as abusing collective party influence
to DICTATE policy through media and govt to TELL others what to do,
and EXCLUDE representation of any dissenting ideas.

I do have Republican friends who believe in BARRING Democrats from office and not letting them have representation at all. And so with the other side.

Both sides have this reputation of trying to BULLY their way by Majority
and EXCLUDING or dominating the beliefs on the other side.

So this is called fascist, or tyranny, etc.
And it's a mutual perception where both sides are responsible
for creating this dynamic or correcting it, too.
