When you put sensitivity and tolerance indoctrination above any other necessity, you loose.
We have become weak here in the USA and it is well known by anyone who cares to see, especially our adversaries. This exercise was but one example.
U.S. Crews Fail To Place in NATO Tank Competition
Obama is loose? Well..... Clinton was loose, but I don't know about Obama.
As for not placing, this isn't the first time. In fact US crews mostly don't place, and this is over a long period of time. It's already been discussed and someone posted the name of another military tournament and the US had won once over two decades or something, with the Germans winning like five of those.
The US military has relied on technology over training for a long time. Remember Top Gun?
Top Gun was Hollywood fantasy. This is reality when it comes to defending our sovereignty or NATO allies.
Top Gun might have been fantasy, but in fantasy you have a lot of truths. For example they were flying F-14s, the US Navy flew F-14s, didn't they?
They also relied too much on technology during the Vietnam War, didn't they?

Topgun exists. It's called United States Navy Strike Fighter Tactics Instructor Program.
Established in 1969, due to the Vietnam War failings of US fighter pilots.

Here's a mention of an Italian:
"Maj. Gianpaolo Goattin, of Verona, 34, from 32nd Wing (Amendola, Italy) was presented the prize Monday, Feb. 1 at Luke AFB (Arizona).
Goattin scored this brilliant performance while serving as F-16 flight instructor at 63rd FS of 56th FW at Luke AFB.
He 's been flying at Luke as exchange pilot since 2000 together with colleagues from many nations such as Germany, Japan, Belgium, U.K., Turkey and shortly Portugal.
Such an high-value recognition abroad by an USAF unit highlights Italian Air Force pilots' skill and proficiency.
Not only did he score the 2001 top prize, but just after three months since he arrived he was named "best flight instructor" of the period; Luke's base newspaper named Goattin "Thunderbolt Instructor Pilot of the Week". He was then named "Fighter Pilot of the Month" at 63rd FS."
The reality is the US spends a lot of money on technology, and emphases technology more than training in comparison with other NATO members.
