They lost at Bama and at Texas, two notoriously tough places to win games.

But you are right, it looks very bleak for Vandy to get to CFP.

They needed LSU not to blow the coverage with 5 minutes left... or Auburn to score at the very end.

Yes they don’t have a “bad loss”. Their problem is they don’t have a “good win” either. Alabama losing to LSU or Auburn doesn’t help them.

Seems all the transfer and NIL stuff is making college sports rather chaotic. Coaches don't know what they have and working on chemistry is even more work.
One thing I don't like is all this conference switching. Conferences should be about proximity. Rutgers flying to play UCLA is ridiculous.

Vandy doesn’t have the money. Their NIL money fund is a couple million under 10 for sure. Schools like OSU and Texas have 30+ million to spend each year.

1. they accept anyone who "graduated" from a diploma mill - not the case from HS, the academic standards weed out many
2. many prospects who played in a lesser conference want one year in SEC to show NFL scouts
3. Vandy usually has the greatest number of "positions in need of an upgrade" relative to other SEC teams
