Texas Grid Asks Residents To Conserve Power As Heatwave Hits

It's not even summer yet and the electric system in Texas is failing. Again.

If there are blackouts people can die from the heat. Especially in August.

This doesn't look good for the rest of the summer if Texas already doesn't have enough energy for their people.

But I heard that Texas and its power grid is awesome and good to go...............????
It was, but 4 million new residents has taken its toll.

Being so fucking awesome that we attract a population increase THE SIZE OF FUCKING OREGON is met with growing pains. We will overcome.
4 million in one year? two years?
No, over the course of several years, we would add a population ranging from the size of San Francisco to the size of St. Louis every year. (850,000 to 500,000).

No big deal, right?

:laughing0301:

The article is full of shit. The Texas power grid isn’t exempt from “Federal Regulations”.
But it is. They set it up that way on purpose.

The better to fuck you over.
The article is written by the AP, who don’t even understand how electric grids work or operate. Texas is not exempt from “federal regulations”. They adhere to NERC regulations. The same as the rest of the US, Canada, and parts of Mexico.
Texas has interconnects to adjacent grids, but there is always a limit to how much power can be brought in from outside. Plus those other regions are usually dealing with the same weather issues and will be strained themselves, as was the case last winter. There is no “national power grid”, it’s really a collection of regional power grids, many running systems that aren’t compatible with other grids. Most of these regional power grids cross state borders, but aren’t any larger than Texas’s grid in question. Texas just happens to be as large as two or three states. Right now all power grids are straining because of the heat wave. But all you brainwashed functional morons can do is berate Texas, because that’s what fake news is doing.

Thank you for demonstrating how ignorant you are, as all you can do is copy and paste AP articles written by morons with a political Agenda.
Lol, was written by Texas tribune writer.

Of course that trump person is wrong. Most of them hardly ever know what they're talking about.

Right, I only work in the industry and deal with the regulations on a daily basis. :smoke:

Meanwhile this sort of shit has been happening for years in California, but that state has to much of the right political thinking for people like yourself to say anything.
where are those headlines?
Are you purposely ignorant or is it a mental deficiency ?

California has been having issues with their grid for awhile do you think they magically fixed the issue in a year. Regardless here's a recent article. I'll ask again purposely ignorant ,mental or could it be partisan hackery ?

I'm so glad they're holding that special session to fix the Texas power grid.

That is why they are holding the special session, right?

Right?

And meanwhile, Governor Fappit is heading to the border with Rump in yet another pathetic political stunt. Sad :(

He's going to the border while his people have no electricity?

That sounds right for a republican. He is a total failure so he goes to the border.

People could die in the heat and he goes to the border.

Texas elected this. Wow. I guess they don't expect much from their politicians.

Well Dana, last winter Gov Fappit was blaming windmills for his own obvious lack of foresight as dozens literally froze to death.

Why do Texans elect.these people? I dunno, many of ‘em may be poorly edjumukated, but they aren’t stupid. :confused-84:

This happens in California every year for decades. The utility companies there just shut the power off now when it gets too hot or too windy.

Guess they shouldn't have dismantled the old coal plants just put them ice till needed.

JO

Texas insists on not being part of the national grid.

Fuck 'em, let 'em bake.
Texas has contracted to have three huge gas turbine plants built over the next year.....once they are up and running they won't need anything else. Unfortunately they heeded the idiots down in DC and let a lot of their older hydrocarbon facilities go into disrepair......I'm pretty sure that won't happen again.

JO

The liberal war on coal based on their irrational fear of man-made global warming is the reason Texas is short on energy
There are 14 power plants in Texas, that use coal for energy.

There are 46 power plants in Texas that us NG for energy.

ALL of the energy companies in Texas are "liberals"?
14...yeah down from almost 50 ..... they made the mistake of listening to the idiots in DC....

We can start by turning off air conditioning in prisons and jails

Then no air conditioning in any government building except schools and hospitals

More appropriate to shut off power for all Trump voters.
