The University of Texas at Austin has banned TikTok from its Wi-Fi and wired networks, citing risks to its "critical infrastructure." The announcement follows Texas Gov. Greg Abbott's December directive banning TikTok from government devices over fears that the app owned by Chinese tech firm ByteDance could pass users' data to the Chinese government. More than half of U.S. states have implemented similar bans. Following the UT-Austin announcement, Texas A&M, the University of Texas at Dallas and other Texas colleges said they would start restricting access to TikTok.

I bet if TikTok were a Russian psyops app it instead of a Chinese Communist psyops app would have been black holed at DNS level by every ISP a year ago.

BTW.....Before the rending of garments and gnashing of teeth by the leftists here it's not a free speech issue, just network security.

Students can just swap to mobile data or hotspot their phone on their dime.

The government of Texas has banned Tik Tok on its computers and servers. UT is part of that. It is partially owned by the state of Texas, but 99% owner by the Football Team. :stir:
