Tarrifs are before the SCOTUS.
It's gonna be a doozy.

High stakes poker never was this scary and SCOTUS cases have never been a "gimmee".

But we are at the point that either the nation becomes undone or we endure. Dunno.

what's good for Costco vs the taxpayer appear to be rather different here ~S~

Everything Trump does is illegal. Everything Trump says is evil.

Every Democrat POTUS who used tariffs is a bad person.

Andrew Jackson, Woodrow Wilson, and FDR…ALL EVIL MEN IMPOSING NAZI RACIST TARIFFS!

Is every nation that is not the USA that uses tarrifs also evil?

The legal point is pretty clear. The president can't unilaterally and capriciously impose tariffs. Tariffs are a tax, and taxes have to be approved by Congress.

SCOTUS will slap this one down, not only because it's the constitutionally correct course, but because it's good for the economy.

SCOTUS is going to save Trump from himself, and we'll all be better off for it.

Trump’s “emergency” tariffs are basically taxation by temper tantrum and functionally illegal.

No vote. No legislation. Just the president slapping billions in costs on Americans because he can wave the word “emergency” around like a magic wand.

At the Nov. 5 Supreme Court hearing, even the justices were like: wait… how is this NOT “taxation without representation?”
When SCOTUS is calling you out for inventing your own tax code, that’s not strength — that’s overreach.

And the damage is real: these tariffs are pulling $80–90B every month out of Americans’ pockets. The Fed flat-out warned they’re raising inflation AND unemployment at the same time — the economic equivalent of driving with the parking brake on while flooring the gas.

On top of that, importers are suing, which means taxpayers could get slapped with hundreds of billions in refunds if the Court finally says “yeah, you can’t do that.”

Nothing about this is “populist” or “pro-worker.”
It’s economic malpractice, funded by you.

Interesting situation despite the click-bait ECONOMIC CHAOS headline.

It sure makes sense for companies to sue to get their money back if the Supreme Court rules against the tariffs.

Nobody said “all tariffs are evil,” genius.
The issue isn’t tariffs, it’s abusing emergency powers to dodge Congress and inventing a tax by executive order.

Every president you listed used tariffs passed by Congress under normal statutory authority. Trump is trying to cram permanent, broad domestic taxes through a loophole designed for short-term national security emergencies. That’s why even conservative justices were asking how this isn’t “taxation without representation.”

This isn’t about Andrew Jackson or FDR. It’s about a president declaring “EMERGENCY!!” and suddenly Americans are paying $80–90B a month in hidden taxes with zero congressional vote behind them.

If you can’t tell the difference between:
Congress passing a tariff law
and
a president self-authorizing a tax on the entire country
…then you’re not debating you're praying in a cult.

Try again when you understand the basics.

Trump declared an emergency situation. And we are in one....have been in one for some time, despite the political claims otherwise.

And that's the heart of the situation.

Between the double digit inflation, the economy in a dumpster fire, banks on the verge of bankruptcy we are in a financial mess. So on those facts it's conceivable that the emergency powers are available to Trump to save the Nation. Powell will be fired, the Federal reserve will shift its policies and stability will resume.

That's Trump's side at least.

Instead of an income tax the nation will have a consumption tax or sales tax that is collected on imported goods for a tax base. Manufacturing will come back to the USA....and things will slowly get better.

Costco is China's pumping of foreign made goods into the USA. They have their own ships and shipping containers. Even some trucking. And Costco is front and center of this battle. Even if a bunch of other corporations are tagging in. For the Corporations it makes financial sense. They invest a little money in legal fees and get back a lot from tarrif refunds. It's worth the gamble for them. They can lose and be out practically nothing.

But if they win they get a huge chunk of money. And the consumers get stiffed for the whole bill losing our government and nation in the process. (There won't be any in the end....broke government and economic collapse of the nation....yes its that serious)

This is still the Biden economy in many ways.

Most liberals are brain dead and have no clue what they are for, how they work and how they protect us

every country uses them!!! this is not some USA policy, many don't understand this

Optimizing trade agreements is always a good idea.

But you don't do it like a ******* ignorant, emotional caveman.

It's not about what you're trying to accomplish, it's about how you go about trying to accomplish it.

That appears to be too complicated an idea for this administration.

SO why is everything improving now

It is TDS.

Literally, anything Trump does is bad to these people.

To cure the TDS, they should wear a mask made of Saran Wrap.

So is it better that Trump loses even if the result is the USA becomes a third world nation?
