Talking about the Swastika

Only place I ever see a swastika in public is tattoos on white guys who’ve spent a lot of time in the joint

I saw them regularly on Indian Reservations. I have also seen it in military museums, as that was the original Patch of the 45th Infantry Division of the US Army.

It is an extremely common motif among American Indian art and culture, and extremely common in the SW USA.

The KiMo was designed and built in 1927 using the style and designs that were very common to several Native American cultures in the American southwest at that time.

Now on the National Register of Historic Places, the design elements of the KiMo Theatre are preserved for their original cultural significance.

Although today the swastika can evoke negative emotions, the KiMo invites visitors to remember that the original meaning of this ancient sacred symbol is one of life and prosperity.

there are two kinds of Swastika

if the hooks point to the right, it stands for Sunrise and good luck

if they point to the left, it stands for Sunset and bad luck

The Nazis chose the Sunset .... and bad luck ...

They also placed it at an angle, where almost universally it is correctly placed so the arms are in a plane with the ground.

why i thought of this topic:

in the Baden.Württemberg parliament some deputee had smeared the Swastika onto a paper, causing a skandal.

that deputee has now resigned
and now this deputee is asked to leave Parliament altogether

They are legal to be flown in America, but only fringe groups do so. For 90% of us, if we see someone with this flag, we know they have mental issues.

We have an extreme rightwing in America that has not felt so emboldened since long before the Civil Rights Act was passed over 50 years ago.

No I don’t think I’ve ever seen a swastika flag in public.

I know a handful of guys (white guys obviously) with swastika or Nazi themed tattoos because they spent years in prison.

Honestly, most of the white power tats you see on guys who’ve done time aren’t as blatantly obvious to the general public as a swastika. More like 14/88, or the Aryan Brotherhood shamrock
Aryan and shamrock go together?

I have only seen it in person at a military re-enactment and even there, it was a made up German military officer's tent.

More proof that the United States is the only Country that guarantees certain freedoms found in the 1st ten Amendments to the Constitution aka the Bill of Rights. President Trump wants to put people in jail for a year for desecrating the Flag on the basis of an Executive Order but the Court has already decreed that it is considered free speech guaranteed by the 1st Amendment.

There were some swastikas found painted near a high school in Bethesda, MD - one of the most affluent and liberal areas in the nation. One was spray painted on an outside wall near the school (with a line also saying to F Jews), and another was on a tree on a walking path a few hundred feet away.

There is a lot of anti-Israel protests in the liberal areas, and the antisemitic nature of the vandalism was connected. Of course.
