Obama didnt want it to succeed. That would make him look bad. So it didnt. The GOP was willing to give on raising revenue but the Dems were stuck on their positions.
Actually the outcome is not all that bad. "Draconian" cuts that get us back to 2008 spending levels. The only issue is the military, which will be gutted, shredding our defensive capability. But the Dums dont care about that.
