You mean the one she issued prior to being released from the NDA which means she pretty much had to make that claim or be in violation of the NDA and subject to huge financial penalties?

The Trump Organization has been found guilty of tax evasion and the CFO has gone to jail for charges related to that.

Seems like Michael Cohen came up with the idea.

I've heard that Michael Cohen was bone-ing Stormy Daniels and this is something that is coming from his arrest for wire-fraud and income tax evasion.

The story is Stormy Daniels worked out this scheme with Michael Cohen, Trump's lawyer, claiming she was going to accuse him of having an affair unless he paid her to keep quiet.

There is no law against paying blackmail hush money. Blackmail itself is the crime, so the wrong person is on trial here.

The crime is supposedly violating campaign finance laws, which is just a fine and a misdemeanor. The statue of limitations ran out on this back in 2018. Alvin Bragg claims Michael Cohen conspired with Trump to make payments but used campaign funds, thus making it a felony. Conspiracy to commit a misdemeanor is a felony, and that's what Alvin Bragg is claiming, but the statue of limitations ran out on that charge after 5 years in 2021.
