Stock market today: Dow drops 1,123 points and bond yields soar as markets adjust rate outlook after Fed meeting

Hey, stupid, if this was the case, then why do recessions ONLY seem to happen when Republicans are in charge?
Oh? So this last spike in inflation.. that happened under Biden.. so is it his fault?? This is still an example of the very thing I'm talking about. It's you playing politics with the current market news. Nothing more.

Inflation isn't a recession.

Recessions are bad.

Inflation is manageable.

Please don't try to be partisan after you guys spent the last four years being assholes.

Now it's all going south, as we knew it would, and you are saying no one could control this?

Inflation isn't a recession.
No kidding.. and way to miss the point. Do you blame Biden for it .. since it happened on his watch like you blame all those Republican Presidents for their recessions??

What is there to control? Do you want the President to control the market now?
Here's a nice article on the alleged relationship between Market performance and Presidential elections:

Nope. Trump's election is causing the recession, because the rich know he'd going to fuck things up.
So, all the rich fat cats are behind Biden?

I tell you what, watching this sort of thing never gets old

That's awesome and all.

But, um, most of us are locked into 401K's and other schemes and we're stuck if the market crashes or not.

here's the reality. Deep down, the investor class is looking at what Trump is proposing, with higher tariffs and higher debts, and they are cashing out now.

Unless you are near retirement and still idiotically have most of your 401k in high volatility stock funds, market dips either don't hurt you if you are older and in MM/Bond funds, or help you if you are younger and in stock funds.

Lower stock prices for anyone under 50 means more shares bought per pay period.

Nope. The economy was fine when Biden leaves it, but the recession happens next year because they know they can get away with taking us all down a peg or two.

this is what you don't get. The rich love them some recessions. They get to fire a bunch of people and hire a bunch of new people who will happily work for less. That's why Covid was such a disappointment for them. It didn't go on long enough, and employees saw what a bunch of shitheels employers are and jumped to better paying jobs.
If only you knew what you were talking about, but you don't so I don't care.

I blame Biden for his part in inflation, but inflation was a global problem.

it doesn't take away from the fact that EVERY Republican president has at least one and sometimes two recession.

.. says the guy who's being partisan and blaming all recessions on Republicans

Again, it's not a bug, it's a design feature.

I do see three possible triggers for Trump Recession II.

1) Tariffs driving inflation and screwing up supply chains, causing the fed to raise interest rates again.
2) Crypto Currency - it's the kind of economic bubble that often pops, triggering recessions. Trump and Musk are hip deep in it.
3) Mass deportations causing disruptions in agriculture and construction, triggering a recession.

Don't care.

I want presidents to follow sensible policies. Republicans engage in the same kind of voodoo economics every time they get in, triggering recessions. The rich get richer, the rest of us get poorer, and they love it.

I love how you are already making excuses for the disaster you know Trump is bringing.

If only you knew what you were talking about, but you don't so I don't care.
Your concession is duly noted.

Markets have dipped before Trump, you know.

Recessions happen whenever the Republicans get into office. It's not a bug, it's a design feature.

A recession is coming, bud. Better get working on those excuses now.

Correlation is not causation.
