A plurality of evangelicals in SC went for Trump, and that was supposed to be Cruz's base. So yes, he is in trouble. With 72% of the R primary voters there being evangelicals, SC was as good as it gets for Cruz, and he couldn't win it.

I think a lot is being made of this and I don't think it is nearly as important as it's being played up. Trump got a greater percentage of EVERY demographic. Across the board. Now... one of the things I was most curious to see was, is whether Trump's support in the polls materialized into actual votes... after all, the mofo is so fucking rich he could have bought any pollster off. But the question has now been answered, the polls are no fluke, there are really people out there voting for Donald J. Trump at the ballot box. If this holds with the national polling data, he will be the GOP nominee and there isn't anyone strong enough to stop him.

Personally, I see it like this... Cruz is the Conservative choice... Rubio is the Establishment choice. Trump is the choice of those who are sick of the fighting between Conservatives and Establishment and anti-political choice. Carson is siphoning votes from Cruz and Kasich is siphoning votes from Rubio but neither of them have the votes to defeat Trump even with all the Kasich and Carson votes. For better or worse, it looks like it's going to be Trump.

Now I don't particularly like Trump, I think he's a caustic jackhole. But when it comes down to Trump or one of the Socialists, I have no problem voting for Trump. I may regret it... I may not like what he does as president... I might not vote for him next time around... but I can't fathom the thought of 4 more years of Socialist policy. I don't think our nation can survive it. We're literally a Supreme Court justice away from losing our Bill of Rights forever. There's no guarantee Trump would nominate a constitutional originalist to the court but we already know what the Socialists will nominate and it's not good.

The last time I posted about Cruz I mentioned Nixon and his gang of dirty tricksters - including Car Rove. I think I mentioned maybe Cruz has a couple of Rove's proteges in his campaign. One of the Campaign's dirtiest tricks was the photoshopped picture of Rubio shaking hands with Obama, I know that would be toxic with Republicans if it wasn't so obviously phony - e.g. they've got right handed Rubio shaking Obama's hand with his left.

But, and this is a big but, the establishment hates Trump more than they hate Cruz, yes? If the rubber hits the road and they have to make a choice between T and C I think they'll launch the nastiest smear campaign you've ever seen against Trump. What the establishment is going to try and do (despite their claims to the contrary) is have a "brokered convention" whereby, they coalesce the electors of Rubio, Cruz, Carson, Kasich, and anyone else... to form a cabal which ostensibly defeats Trump. I think this is extremely dangerous because if they attempt it and are successful, Trump will very likely run 3rd party.... and that's Game Over for the GOP.

On the other hand, Trump has been signaling for weeks that he "can work with" the Establishment.... meaning, he is ready to jump in bed with them on many of their more contentious issues with the Tea Party and Conservative base. I think they would prefer a cordial Trump to a recalcitrant Cruz, to be perfectly honest. But they would rather have a Rubio.
