Microsoft monopolized computer technology. In America, we're not supposed to have monopolies.
Steve Jobs and Apple was created as a false competitor. The computers were made more fashionable, slightly better. Jobs was allowed to release the gadget technology first.
The proof of the theory is in the fact Apple was bailed out by Microsoft. Why would a company bail out a "competitor"?
