Packed the place, both teams got over a 50M paycheck

steelers backup QB got mugged and robbed, not sure if they knew he played for them
or it was random, likely more than one with a knife, not sure where he was when this happened
sure they are in hotel with the team, probably went out to explore by himself?
he's a big dude but giving up a few hundred bucks to not get stabbed, good call

does not exactly paint dublin in a good light

Just stupid.
MN taxpayers helped pay half of a billion dollar stadium, and the NFL does games outside of the country.
Vikings suck in both environments.

This is for the NFL to get more fans apparently and they are doing 7 games overseas in total this year

when you have a stadium that holds 82K that's larger than our, the ticket prices are high and the teams make HUGE money, win all they way around.........think about it, we are getting paid by THEM.......haha

maybe it's a one time thing, has zero to do with paying for a stadium in MN

what sucks is the game was on at 6:30am my time......yeah I am not waking up that early on a sunday so I missed it

True, and the story is that the NFL is aiming for all teams to eventually have at least one out of the country game per year. That is 16 games that won't be played in home stadiums before season ticket holders paying for stadium parking food and concessions, while teams get to go on mini-vacations.

Kinda funny really--- Steelers played great, for the most part, they killed Minnesota and the Vikes only got back in the game because Pittsburgh left them get back in, but Skylar Thompson wasn't even supposed to be on the team, got left on because their #3 QB got injured, goes over to Dublin to play in Ireland to pay tribute to the Steeler's owner home hand, and gets beat up and mugged for it.

Yup.
They sold people on the expensive stadium for economic gain for businesses in Mpls.
Now the Vikings are playing two European games in a row screwing local bars from that added revenue, even after taxing those businesses more to fund the stadium.

It's a sure bet I will never see the inside of that stadium. NFL ticket prices are out of hand.

That is right, Minnesota is still in the UK, they have to play anotherr team in London this week.

The NFL prospers. The teams prosper. The players prosper. The fans and cities who finance these teams get screwed. If I were a season ticket holder, I had better be seeing a 12-13% price drop to reflect the fewer games played. But yeah, since Ticketmaster, I've pretty much stopped going to live events. I just can't bring myself to pay HUNDREDS of dollars to go see a game or a concert that by every measure, really should be costing me about $30-$40 to go see.

The rest is pure profit. I mean, at $30-$40, they should be making a killing; they used to all the years I used to go.

yeah he's on injury reserve for some reason and got jumped and robbed
big dude but not if there are 3+ and have a knife
likely they had no idea he was a football player, still make me wonder where he went by himself to get robbed

the markup on tickets is insanity, in the west is ticket west and their fees are not too bad

that game, the good seats were 500 euro, nosebleed like 90

Found that strange... There is no problem to delay that game by 4 hours in Dublin, the biggest issue would be being on Sunday, most of the night games are Friday or Saturday...

Kind of weird... The local cops (Garda) got no report, the whole of Dublin city centre has loads of cameras... Garda would have moved on this, any tourist incident is followed up, they don't like that..

This isn't the first time they've tried it---we had the WFL in the early 90s and they've had games every year for some time in Europe, Mexico---even Japan and Australia. They keep hoping it will take hold, but when the novelty wears off, so does attendance, that was proven during the WFL years.
