“Democratic officials in 19 states filed a lawsuit Thursday against President Donald Trump’s attempt to reshape elections across the U.S., calling it an unconstitutional invasion of states’ clear authority to run their own elections. The lawsuit is the fourth against the executive order issued just a week ago.”

Very good.

How elections are conducted are the sole purview of the states.

Trump’s EO is un-Constitutional and devoid of merit, predicated on disinformation and lies, a lawless effort to disenfranchise millions of Americans.

Not quite true. Article I Section 2 clearly give power for Federal election rules are set by state legislatures, except that Congress can make rules for Federal office.

Of course the Office of the President has no power over State election procedures. So carry on.

Tell that to Wisconsin. If you want to vote in this state, you'd better have a picture ID.

Election security should not be something left up to the individual states

Seems to me that States have jurisdiction over State elections while the Federal Government has a say in how national elections should be conducted. They should be fair; balanced; legal; and transparent. Not right that some states run fair elections while Marxists States like California and New York run biased elections.

A little fact sheet addressing the Executive Branch's role in elections.
Published: 20 February 2024

Federal Executive Branch Agencies Roles and
Responsibilities in United States Elections
IN THE UNITED STATES, states have primary responsibility for
the administration of Federal elections. Federal departments
and agencies work to:
1. Assist states in protecting the security of our
voting systems and related infrastructure;
2. Protect the right to vote;
3. Address unlawful threats of
violence and physical harm against
election officials and workers;
4. Identify and counter foreign malign influence
activities directed at U.S. elections;
5. Combat election fraud and campaign
finance violations; and
6. Provide access to relevant information
relating to the elections.

In other words they must be able to continue to cheat in elections.

So, Trump’s order IS unconstitutional

It is already a federal law that one must be a citizen to vote in a federal election. Yet the Constitution leaves it up to the states on how they process it.

So, Trump’s order IS unconstitutional

I can't say. I haven't read the EO so don't feel like I can comment on that.

I do know that the President has 0, zero, nadda, zilch designatged powers in Arcticle II. Therefore the only powers the President has are in relation to laws passed by Congress.

I was responding to someone that said elections were within the sole purview of the states (assuming he also meant Federal elections). That is incorrect as Article I Section 2 clearly gives Congress the power to establish rules for Federal elections.
