Why even bother wasting the money on investigating it?

The answer is easy. It's bad for them in excess. If I had a kid they wouldn't even get a phone till they are 16 and internet access would be limited.

Even if I go out to eat I see 6 or 8 year olds playing on a phone mom and dad put infront of them to shut them up.
