State Trooper observe that cars cause most car/semi-truck accidents...

A couple more.

Don't drive next to a truck for a prolonged period. The are lots of blind spots, worst being front corner, passenger side.

Truck in the right lane usually are using their cruise control. If you pass one and return to the right lane, leave some space, ESPECIALLY if no one is behind you.

And if you notice that truck you just passed is catching up with you, either there is a downgrade and gravity is causing the acceleration, or, more likely, you are slowing down.

The truck driver knows you are going to immediately accelerate as soon as they initiate a pass... so be proactive an accelerate BEFORE the driver gets into the passing lane.

... And gives good advice.

Commentary... since many commuters drive like they have sub 80 IQ, I don't believe they have the intellectual capability to cognitively process this video... buy here it is anyway.

If you can't see the driver in his mirrors, he can't see you.

Not that tough.

How does this rise to the level of a current event and why is a single Ok. trooper's personal opinion of drivers important?
His professional opinion.

Mine too. Many of you drive like you're mentally retarded.

"Gotta get on front of you at any cost! Even if it gets you and I both killed, got to jam in front of you."

Yeah. It's a ******* current event. People are currently killing themselves and others driving like idiots.

That's my professional opinion.

And in other news, scientists have discovered that water is wet!
Cars forget trucks aren't cars, or they don't think about it. Everyone knows water is wet because they've stuck their finger in water. Maybe 2% of the population has driven a fully loaded semi.

When I was young and had a couple accidents, I remember the AAA agent mentioned that he's never had an accident. I asked him how he managed that. He simply said, "I drive DEFENSIVELY."

At age 20 or so I really didn't understand what he meant. Now I do and I don't have accidents either. I drive DEFENSIVELY. I EXPECT people to do stupid stuff. I also try my best to let it go. I expect road rage from these same people. I let them get the ticket

Most people have seen the TV news or read a newspaper and know that cars and trucks don't mix. Social media is full of dashcam videos of trucks destroying cars when they do something stupid. To pretend they don't know is just as stupid as those people who tempt fate by tangling with a truck.

The percentages were 60-70% car driver at fault, 14-25% truck driver at fault, the rest both were at fault or it could not be determined. The variation is due to a correlation of different studies.

So you think they're just idiots and nothing can be done?

Just chalk it up to **** Around, Find Out... since the car driver is going to have an 80% likelihood of being killed or suffering life altering injuries and the truck driver has an 80% likelihood of walking away unscathed?

Exactly! 50% of all people are blow average intelligence.

What are you going to do to change it? ***** some more? Yell at the sky?

Yup. Always assume someone will make a wild lane change, or some other dumb thing. Don’t ever drive next to someone for long, either pass them or stay behind them.
