'Stand Your Ground' Defense Planned By Man Accused Of Shooting George Zimmerman

Stand Your Ground Defense Planned By Man Accused Of Shooting George Zimmerman

SANFORD, Fla. (AP) — An attorney for a Florida man charged with shooting at George Zimmerman said Friday that he planned to use a "Stand Your Ground" defense — the same legal strategy considered but ultimately not used by lawyers for the former neighborhood watch leader who was acquitted in the fatal shooting of Trayvon Martin.

Such a defense would entitle Matthew Apperson to a hearing, ahead of his trial, during which a judge would decide if he deserves immunity from prosecution because he feared imminent death or bodily injury. Apperson was charged earlier this month with aggravated assault and battery for firing a gun into Zimmerman's car during a traffic run-in. Zimmerman had minor injuries.

Zimmerman's defense attorneys had considered asking for a "Stand Your Ground" hearing when the former neighborhood watch leader faced a second-degree murder charge for the February 2012 fatal shooting of Martin, but they instead opted to go straight to a traditional criminal trial.

oh the sweet irony!
what irony would that be??

Oh nothing! That guys legal defense is planning on using the same defense Zimmermans legal defense was planning on using.

I guess when someone plans the same things there is no irony...that ironic

Only if they decide not to use it.
But then that kinda ruins the whole point dont ya think?

Both defenses considering using the same defense isnt ironic. I get it now lmao

The stand your ground defense wasn't even used in the Zim trial.
So whats the point here?
If you'd read the OP, you'd know that he said that.

To bad the OP didnt...
The OP didn't say this?

oh the sweet irony!
It would have been a slam dunk if Apperson had killed Zimmerman. More problematic with the creeper still living and able to give his false story.

Too bad for Apperson is his documented history of mental illness including hospitalizations.

IF George Zimmerman actually threaten or attacked the guy, and the guy used a self defense plea, then there would be irony.

Mmm, no it wouldn't.

You do recall that there was a witness that confirmed Zimmerman's story, right?

Martin was a little thug, who got exactly what he had coming. If you don't want to get shot, keep your hands off of other people.

just because he's having trouble now, from pos''s attacking him, does not mean that he did wrong during the Martin event, and Martin was a pos and George did the world a huge favor by getting rid of the punk. I wish that everybody who attacks anyone would get shot in the guts, repeatedly, with the most destructive ammo available. it's what they deserve for not controlling themselves. We can do without such punks, just fine

oh the sweet irony!

Just as you idiots did with the original case, you have already decided what the outcome will be before there is even a hearing. You retards never learn, but I guess that's what makes you progressives. I don't know what will happen but I'll laugh me ass off if it doesn't work for this guy.

Either way it's no skin off of GZ's nose. I doubt he gives a shit at all.

You bozos crack me up.
