I like sports. Sports players are pushing things to limits over the color of their skin. In certain jobs in all sports there is also controversy. End this. Or please start new leagues. New leagues to compete with the old leagues. The past leagues. The ones that went from entertaining a fan to becoming the media type fifth estate for the political elitists like the entertainers have some years ago.

Sports used to be about the fun and excitement watching the game.
Now its devolved into lecturing the fans and telling them how to think concerning politics and social issues. ..

The people of Alabama just elected a sports coach to the Senate who doesn't even know the basics of the U.S. government. How does having some football or knowledge of some other sport qualify anyone for public service? If people hate people in the entertainment world from "Hollywood," why would they love people in sports? How do people in sports know more than people in entertainment?

Are you suggesting we eliminate the entertainer's 1st Amendment Free Speech rights? ... these leagues do have "codes of conduct" already, players are limited on behaviors ... a 280 lbs linebacker beats up his 105 lbs wife, he's going to get suspended ... betting against the team you're managing gets you banned for life ... I think there's even a dress code ...

The players only speak out when their teams allow it, and in turn teams speak out when the league allows it ... if you don't like the speech, turn the sound off on your TV, we really don't need the announcer to tell us the left fielder caught the ball, we can see that ourselves ...

Nonsense.

Professional athletes are at liberty to engage in political expression as any other citizen – that their message in opposition to racism, bigoty, and hate makes conservatives uncomfortable doesn’t warrant the right’s opposition to athletes’ political expression.

Indeed, that political expression by professional athletes makes conservatives uncomfortable is the point – where far too many on the right are purveyors of racism, bigotry, and hate.

Because he’s not a career politician. People on the Right realized a while ago that career politicians are not sacrificing anything for public office. They use the office to enrich themselves and are bribed by big corporations.

Most politicians never really talk about policies. They just say “I’m good and care about people, unlike my opponent”.

The people are supposed to run the government. Not career technocrats. People who elected the football coach expressed that by electing him

Sorry, but a bunch of millionaire athletes complaining about racism and equality in sports leagues Where Black Athletes largely outnumber white Athletes is a joke.

If they’re going to complain about not having enough black coaches or black people in the front office, then they should also force leagues to make their teams have 2/3 of their roster White, because that fits the demographic of America.

Just kidding, they shouldn’t. Why? Because that would be racist. Just as forcing leagues to hire Black people is racist, because YOU ARE JUDGING PEOPLE BASED ON THE COLOR OF THEIR SKIN AND NOT THEIR CHARACTER OR SKILL SET!!!!!!

I am suggesting to give people the choice in Cable TV to pick their own basic stations. I am saying that I should go to a game then at a few bucks for a Pro Game. To park for a couple of dollars. To buy food at reasonable prices then. For all of the first amendment rights that is shoved in our face for many that live lives that end up being charged to me by their ways.

100% Correct. The problem is when they use THE GAME ITSELF as their platform from which to lecture, demonstrate and confront. If they want to go to a public venue and have a demonstration or a talk with people about their Race issues, that is perfectly fine. It is totally wrong to bring that into the game, jamming their OPINIONS down sports fans throats who pay their money to watch talented people play their sport.

The thread premise does illustrate the authoritarian right’s fear of, and contempt for, dissent, diversity, and free expression – and conservatives’ desire to silence that dissent.

So why do people castigate people in the entertainment community who express political thoughts? If sports figures and religious figures can participate in politics and express political viewpoints, why can't people in the entertainment community do the same? The same people who vote for sports or religious figures disparage "Hollywood." A political opinion offered by an actor or musician is the same as those offered by a religious leader or a sports person.

Then remove all the security apparatus at the games. No more electronic devices. No more prison wands to check the fan coming into the stadium. No more searches on any fans violating their rights. Lessen the security to early 1970 levels when according to you we we were less free. Let the fans bring in large coolers filled with food and igloos with drinks like they used to. What happened to their rights? Their unalienable rights. The ones guaranteed by the slaveholders in the constitution.

"Sports Players?" Just say athletes...okay? Slow day on the troll farm?

I'm all for whomever wanting to use their pulpit to use it. In this day and age, they should be applauded.

I explained that the issue they are “arguing is a joke”. They’re complaining about the lack of black people in sports, when Black people dominate sports.

2nd they only allowed one side of the political spectrums voice to be heard. Look at what happened to Drew Brees when he tried to stand up for the National Anthem. Anybody who doesn’t agree with the Lefts political statement is called a Bigot.

3rd People watch sports to watch sports, not to learn about politics. If I want to hear about liberals bitching, I can go watch CNN or MSNBC

Why do you think that sports coaches make good leaders? Some religious leaders as well?

?????????????

Say what now?

Kanye West years ago infuriated his audience during a Rap concert by going on a 40 minute rant in support of Donald Trump. Was he "within his rights" to express his free speech to his paying audience? Yes or No?

I don't watch sports anymore. Are they giving lectures during the games or on ESPN ?

Maybe you should ask his fans that paid for the tickets.

Back in the day, if I went to a Bob Dylan or Arlo Guthrie concert, it probably wouldn't surprise me to hear a rant. But probably I'd be real surprised if it extolled Nixon.

Sounds like a problem with your Cable TV provider, and not with professional sports league ... I remember the day well, I had basic cable about 50 channels and every single one of them was broadcasting a commercial ... I discontinued service and bought a 50¢ set of rabbit ears at GoodWill ... I still get commercials but I don't have to pay to see them ...

Kill your TV ... maybe introduce yourself to your neighbors ... shag some fly balls for the kids ... if you don't want to hear other's political opinions, keep your own to yourself ...
