SpaceX unveiled its new Falcon Heavy rocket on Wednesday, a month before its first launch.

Photos posted by SpaceX chief executive Elon Musk show the new rocket inside its Florida hangar. Missing is the cargo for the January test flight. Musk has said the Falcon Heavy will launch his own cherry-red Tesla Roadster into space.

First, SpaceX will test-fire the rocket's 27 engines at the pad; the company is aiming to do that by the end of the month. The launch is planned for a few weeks after the test.

Falcon Heavy is essentially the company's Falcon 9 times three. It features three Falcon 9 first-stage boosters joined together with a second-stage on the middle one. It also has three times more engines.

Go to the moon now with it!

Private space sector is killing it. These companies are our only hope for cheaper, more reliable access to the Solar system and beyond. Maybe now we won't have to rely on the Russians for our heavy lift.

Science needs this, this provides the statistical background that science needs.

If Trump was smart he'd work with Musk to get us back to the moon. ;) Next he should order the sealing of one of the moon caves as a long term outpost.
Trumps a businessman he knows that Private industry can do space better than the Government.
Government did the basic research in physics that industry could not afford to do. Just as the Corp of Discovery made the first maps for westward expansion of this nation, government today mapped out the way for building the means to get into space.

Now this is a thread I can read.

He just might...
Donald Trump renews NASA mission for human space travel, deep space exploration
The treasonous fat senile old orange clown is long on flap yap, damned short on action.
Seems that Trump occupies the empty vast vacuum of space between your ears.
Christ...get a grip on yourself.

Hmmm - cool idea but do we really need any more space junk floating around out there?
