I have to say in all honesty, that I'm not embarrassed to admit that seeing Trump come in, announced as POTUS to the cheers of the Congress, brought tears to my eyes. But I really lost it when to Rush's surprise, Trump called him out, thanked him and announced giving him the Medal of Freedom! Rush did not know this was coming! The Medal of Freedom is the HIGHEST civilian medal, normally awarded for actions which aided the USA in its war efforts, given him by the First Lady, and in a very real sense, Rush has been an ally in the war against its internal enemies.
Then I totally lost it with towel in hand, eyes red, as he recognized both fallen soldiers, people killed by terrorists as well as reuniting families of those still active. Then Trump went on to enumerate the many great accomplishments for America, the economy, minorities.
And through it all, Nancy sat there either reading a Mad Magazine, or at other times, I think she was working on a crossword puzzle.
She did finally manage to get up to recognize and applaud the legitimate president of Venezuela.
It is clear that this woman is no longer fit to do her job. She doesn't speak to the president, cannot shake his hand, was unable to give him the proper introduction he deserves. She sat there through the night reading through his speech looking for things she could somehow use against him. Then at the end, she tore his speech up. And through the night, democrats repeatedly yelled out interruptions over and over again which Trump talked right over.
To their credit, many times, a substantial number of democrats did applaud and clap.
Adam Schiff and Jerry Nadler sat there looking very much dejected and forlorn in a state of disbelief as though their daughters had been raped, and they were being forced to sit there and pay tribute to the rapist.
2020 is not going to be a very kind year for Democrats.
Afterwards, I listened to some of the "Democrat's Response" by Gretchen somebody. She spoke of replacing lead pipes and filling in pot holes with dirt.
Ahem.
Tomorrow, Trump is acquitted and this moment marks the beginning of Trump's reelection. Democrats don't wear their TDS very well at all. I really sort of almost feel sorry for them, the rude awakening, brick walls, and ball-crushing bitter defeats that lay ahead for them. They just don't get it. Not through all of the remarkable prosperity announced tonight. Not through the room-shaking chants of
USA! USA! USA! Or even the loud calls for
FOUR MORE YEARS! By the people they hope tomorrow will remove this president from office.
The greatest humiliation was at the very beginning, as I watched the affair on CBS and they announced that official polls were in, and Trump was celebrating his HIGHEST POLL NUMBERS EVER SINCE HE TOOK OFFICE. Right after the Democrats had just spent 70 million dollars and 10 months trying to have him removed.
