In MacDonald vs. Chicago, Sotomayor wrote:
"In sum, the Framers did not write the Second Amendment in order to protect a private right of armed self defense."

Of course anti-2A Justice Sotomayor gets 24/7 armed security while other people who live in crime-ridden DC get robbed.

I wonder if the the champagne liberal justice learned anything from this July 5th event right outside her DC apartment while she slept...

A hoodrat picked the wrong car to hijack. Sotomayor's protective US Marshal shot the armed perp in the mouth while working to protect her at 1:15 a.m.

Poor Kentrell. With big hole in his mouth, his dreams of being a famous orator and toastmaster are dashed.

But at least the birdies will have a new place to build a nest.

Sounds racist for the Wise Latina to have her bodyguard shoot a black teen who didn't harm anyone for an attempted auto theft.

When is this dame going to answer for this? Particularly in Washington DC where auto thieves have come to expect the public to be unarmed?

So this idiot putz is saying in other words that the framers wrote the 2A to define that our military and LEOs have the right to self-defense. Ahha. :icon_rolleyes::no_text11::fu::eek-52::nono::spinner::shok:

The framers didn't want the President to use the military for his own personal affairs ... like the British Monarchs did ... we wanted to do everything the opposite of George III ... so State Governors got control of the military ... such that the President had to get their permission to engage in warfare ... casting in stone what the Magna Carta only suggested ...

The individual right to own a gun depends on the State and their military needs ... and in Oregon these needs are very very great ... 1859 there were still brown bears, Californians and Chinese running around ... so the State's forefathers cast into stone this individual right to own a gun into the State Constitution ... "A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State ..."

These were touchy times ... the 13 Colonies kinda liked the idea of calling their own shots ... ignoring London or ignoring Philadelphia ... they fought for independence, and dammit, they were going to be independent ... strengthening Federal government came with some concessions ...

The Interregnum is ancient history to us today ... but it was only 100 years earlier for our forefathers ... so widespread gun ownership kept the Charles II types from commandeering our new Republic ... and kept the colonies independent ...

You mean like using the DOJ to charge and arrest your political opponents to help you win elections?

The individual right to own a gun depends on the State and their military needs ...
I must have missed that in the Second Amendment.

Why should an anti-gun nutter have armed bodyguards? Call for social services to deal with the situation.

Are U.S. Marshalls detailed to protect Supreme Court Justices or did Sotomayor have her own hired guards? Hard to tell based on media reports. It should be noted for historical perspective that notorious anti-2nd Amendment Senator Kennedy's personal bodyguard was arrested while trying to enter the Senate Office building armed with fully automatic weapons. The charges were quietly dismissed.

I must have missed that in the Second Amendment.

Here it's enshrined in Article I, Section 22 ... you must live in California or some other commie/liberal/hippy McGovernik country ... no wonder you're so bitter ... have you considered moving to Idaho? ...

Article I Section 11 of the Idaho State Constitution:

"Right to keep and bear arms. The people have the right to keep and bear arms, which right shall not be abridged; but this provision shall not prevent the passage of laws to govern the carrying of weapons concealed on the person nor prevent passage of legislation providing minimum sentences for crimes committed while in possession of a firearm, nor prevent the passage of legislation providing penalties for the possession of firearms by a convicted felon, nor prevent the passage of any legislation punishing the use of a firearm. No law shall impose licensure, registration or special taxation on the ownership or possession of firearms or ammunition. Nor shall any law permit the confiscation of firearms, except those actually used in the commission of a felony."

Way off.

There can only be one interpretation of the 2A, best revisited by Geo. Washington himself:

DROP MIC

Is that what SCOTUS says ... maybe you don't understand how the United States government operates ...

Do you have 2nd Amendment Rights in a public school? ... in Texas? ...

Article I Section 23 of the Texas State Constitution:

"RIGHT TO KEEP AND BEAR ARMS. Every citizen shall have the right to keep and bear arms in the lawful defence† of himself or the State; but the Legislature shall have power, by law, to regulate the wearing of arms, with a view to prevent crime.

† = The language of this provision is identical to the language of the official legislative measure that originally proposed the provision.

No right to open carry in Texas? ... that ain't America, that's still Mexico ... yeah, George III regulated guns to prevent crime too ...

Sounds like the young man was just trying to feed his family, and Sotomayor's thugs put a bullet in him.
