So, You Want a Machine Gun?

Before '86 you could buy a Brit Sten gun (various marks) for around $200.00 plus $200.00 for Uncle Sugar.

Today.....18K.

1986 I bought a Russian AK 47 250.00

I'm a farmer, all i need are scater guns....~S~
Oh no....You need a lever action/handgun combo in .32-20. ;)

It was known as the "farmer's caliber" because it could take care of farm pests as well as take the occasional mid-sized deer.

Actually, it isn't too bad. I own a M1918A2 and on slow rate they are very controllable. On fast rate they bounce around pretty good though. I only shoot fast rate on the bench with the bipod.

I'm too old to go prone anymore. Takes too much time to get up!

Maybe that 20 pounds they weigh helps cut down on the recoil.

7.62 NATO on full auto is bad enough, but think about those WW2 grunts having to manage a BAR with 30 caliber M2 ball? I can't even imagine trying to shoot 30-06 in full-auto, that had to hurt.
I agree.

I remember some of the South Vietnamese were issued BARs. Imagine a little guy hardly weighing 100 lbs firing a BAR.

At the range a few years ago I got to fire a legal Class III Fn FAL on full auto. It was easier to keep on target than I remember the M-14 to be. Of course it had a bipod and was designed to be fired in the prone position while the M-14 was an off hand rifle.

Any dinky little guy can put the rounds on target if he's motivated enough. :laughing0301:

I think bargain basement Class III Weapons ( Uzi ) ( Type 63) ( M3 ) ( Broomhandle Mauser ) ... are still
Doable for lower middle class buyers but you must live in a State where tax Stamps still get processed

Most ignorant anti-2nd Amendment activists are probably unaware that a "machine gun" fires multiple rounds (it doesn't matter if they are 9 mm or .45 or even 30.06) at the single depression of the trigger. They seem to think that all military looking firearms are "machine guns" and they persist in promoting the lie. The Clinton ATF used helicopters, tanks and poison gas to incinerate about 100 members of a quirky religious sect in Texas on the basis that they sent away for (legal) pamphlets about restoring junk WW2 automatic weapons. The pamphlets were burned up and there wasn't a trace of a single WW2 vintage weapon found after the burned bodies of men, women and children were removed.

The Waco Branch Davidians were quite the firearms aficionados, but I doubt the validity of the FBI report on the weapons they found. The FBI has been known to fabricate evidence before.

"WEAPONS RECOVERED FROM THE BRANCH DAVIDIAN COMPOUND: TREASURY SUMMARY OF REPORT PREPARED BY THE FBI FOR PROSECUTORS AND THE ILLEGAL WEAPONS RECOVERED

Machine Guns

The FBI determined that 46 semiautomatic firearms had been modified to fire in full automatic mode:

22 M-16 Type Rifles

20 AK-47 Type Rifles

2 Heckler and Koch SP-89

2 M-11/Nine

The FBI also determined that two AR-15 lower receivers had been modified to fire in full automatic mode.

Silencers

21 Sound suppressors or silencers

Hand Grenades

4 Live M-21 Practice Hand Grenades

The possession of lawfully manufactured machineguns, silencers, or grenades requires the owner to register the weapon with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco & Firearms. None of the compound's residents were registered to own such a weapon, therefore it would have been illegal for them to possess these weapons.

These lists do not include dozens of other items recovered from the Compound such as dust covers, extractors, front and rear sights, gun cleaning equipment, bolt release levers, compensators, .50 caliber belt links and numerous other parts.

There are single individual
collectors with collections that easily surpass that entire list

Well it's kind of funny that as I was watching the FBI raid on the Waco compound back then, I don't remember hearing any full-auto fire.

Those BARs are pretty heavy. The uhh "standard" method was they had a sling to hold it and you walk and fire.

The BAR is a big, heavy gun. They were usually fired from the hip while in a shoulder sling.

It's heavy enough to reduce recoil greatly.

Yep Semi Auto versions are a big seller from Ohio Ordinance Works ( even though they cost as much as a decent used car )
The BAR I'd want has gold engraving on it and is made in Belgium.

Maybe $1300? Try to snipe a good used one.

Chances are they have very low use.
