For I know two autistic people and they never needed a service animal and one of them is severely autistic. This service animal thing is just looking for an excuse to take your pet with you on outings. I'm not saying that's what's happening here but in my experience autistic people don't need service animals.

Yeah, it's kind of unfortunate that the Americans With Disabilities Act makes it illegal to even ask the "disabled" person what their disability is, or at least this was the case the last time I spent any time thinking of this issue.

Too many people have abused this and ruined the system.

Maybe genuinely disabled people need to start carrying certification for their service animals, and not being so snotty about having to do so.

That's what I was thinking and I don't think that it does. Otherwise my guy would want to bring his cats with him everywhere. He's a highly functioning autistic but still. He's never made excuses for his disabilities either.

Why is it when I take my handicapped ole lady to the store there's always no parking in the handicapped spots?

Because some people like breaking the rules.

If somebody's service dog is a problem for you, you have a problem. I suspect that problem is Road Runnerism.

My husband used to park in the handicapped spot -- legal for him, but I was the one walking into the store and doing the shopping. I demanded that he stop using the handicapped spot unless he was actually getting out of the car.

There needs to be distinctions on service dogs and emotional support dogs. True service trained dogs for people with physical disabilities should have one certificate that all businesses have to accommodate, emotional support dogs often are nothing more than personal pets should have a different certificate that businesses can chose to accommodate or not.
