Because its a matter of protecting reproductive and privacy rights vs. violating those rights. In the absence of a compelling government interest or at least a rational basis, the law must always com down on the side of protecting rights. And don't bother to bleat about the rights of the unborn.

There have only been two nominees questioned by Democrats about their inappropriate behaviour with women, and both were stone cold guilty of the allegations: Clarence Thomas. Brett Kavenaugh is such an odius swine, that the White House refused to allow the FBI to interview his accusers.

Kavenaugh is the guy who came up with the idea of going after Bill Clinton, using his extra-marital affairs, and is the architect of the sexual smear. I guess he came up with this idea, knowing how vulnerable HE would be if anyone investigated his relationships with women.

Donald Trump also went after Hillary Clinton because her husband screwed around. Look at Trump going after Democrats for doing the things he does. Just like Kavenaugh went after Clinton for his sexual abuse of women because Kavenaugh understood the danger of exposure.

Perhaps if Republican men didn't treat women like chattels they can control and abuse, their nominees for these high offices, wouldn't have these problems.
