On Friday, President Donald Trump fired the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, the chief of naval operations, and the vice chief of staff of the Air Force, as well as the judge advocate generals of the Army, Navy, and Air Force, simultaneously resegregating America’s military leadership and eliminating a critical safeguard against the execution of unlawful orders—a decision tantamount to flipping a weapon from safety to fire.

Air Force Gen. Charles Q. Brown Jr., the fired Joint Chiefs chairman, is the second Black general to serve in the role. Adm. Lisa Franchetti, the departing Navy chief, is the second woman to ever reach the rank of four-star admiral. The other Joint Chiefs are white men. The terminations come in the wake of Trump’s previous firing of Adm. Linda Fagan, the Coast Guard commandant, on his first day in office, and are part of a broader effort to discourage women, racial minorities, and LGBTQ+ service members from serving in the military.

On his first day in office, Trump issued an executive order requiring that U.S. Northern Command—the military command responsible for border security and domestic military deployment within the United States—develop plans “to seal the borders and maintain the sovereignty, territorial integrity, and security of the United States by repelling forms of invasion, including unlawful mass migration, narcotics trafficking, human smuggling and trafficking, and other criminal activities, with a commander’s estimate due to the Secretary of Defense within 30 days of the effective date of this order.”

However, one white officer did get the axe too: Air Force Gen. James C. Slife. This move, along with firing the three JAGs—the senior legal advisers to each of the military branches—indicates that the removals were about more than race and gender. They signal a presidential willingness to commit war crimes in pursuit of partisan political objectives that could fundamentally rupture the American military chain of command from private to general, undermine national security, and destroy an institution that has been a democratic cornerstone of the republic since its founding.

Comment:
The President has a 100% right to appoint his trusted military leaders.
Joe Biden did it and so did Barry Obama.
False accusations of racism by the author Timothy Soseki Kudo makes him a despicable racist demagogue.
The President also has a duty to protect the sovereignty of our country and to protect our citizens from the Drug Cartel crimes.
All countries control their border crossings and immigration.
Timothy Soseki Kudo must be blinded by his radical left hatred.
