Should you run out and buy a new car before auto tariffs take effect?

So employers are having a hard time finding workers, but DumDum slaps a tariff on cars. He thinks in a decade or so maybe some auto makers will return factories to the US. In the meantime we pay $15,000 or more for new cars. What a Moron.
Where’d you pull that $15k figure from? Out of your ass, as usual?

My wife, who works for the accounting dept of a major dealership conglomerate says the talk is $4k to $6k on the average, and that’s not even guaranteed…

As usual, the cheerleaders against America standing up for itself is just fear mongering nonsense.

I'm never buying a new car again, because the government has already made them too expensive.

You people said nothing when government regulations made car prices skyrocket. Why are you worried about the price now?

Who can ever afford a new car jimboliar? My bank account can't, how about your SNAP card balance?

Bought my retirement car last year.

Decided around the beginning of February it was time to replace my wifes 2010 Mazda 3, so we did.

The writing was on the wall even then.

Meh. I'm about to drop the price of a new car on upgrading my Wrangler Unlimited. V8 Swap, 37 in. MT's and lift it another inch. All of the add-ons will be US made products.

You never really cared about people having to make this choice before the 2035 EV mandates in Blue States.

Figures you would only start caring when your TDS can come into play.

That's one thing I never understood about "EV mandates". There is no one size fits all solution for everyone. I mean hell we have:
  • motorcycles
  • mini cars
  • sedans
  • wagons
  • SUVs
  • Small, medium, large pickups.
  • Step Vans/Utility Vans
  • Huge Semi's

Just like the style of vehicle there are applications where EV's make a hell of a lot of sense. There are others where ICE is the better alternative. I like an ICE engine in my car for long trips. On the other hand my wife's little commuter car is a perfect candidate for an EV. (We didn't go with an EV more because of the way batteries are not modular and easily changeable, but that is a different discussion.)

Let people have options.
