Social media largely missed its mark because it’s largely anti social . Just look at here. The previously voiceless were given voices but have nothing to say .

I'm going to say YES.

That being said, I look forward to seeing what their results are.

Legislation will not repair poor parenting and only encourage kids to lie and find work arounds instead of understanding the problem.

I’m leaning toward yes on this.

This should fall on the parents. Unfortunately, that hasn’t exactly been working out very well in my opinion.

Maybe parents need a little extra support on this front.

Australia begins enforcing world-first teen social media ban

Took my 2 year old to the hospital to do some checks. "Does your kid not watch TV?" they asked. "He does, but not much, like 30 minutes max over two 15 minutes periods"

They asked this because they could tell at the age of two, just by looking at his eyes, that he doesn't watch much TV. Imagine what it's like for 16 year olds.

I am not sure how we can realistically enforce it in the US without everyone having to cough up their ID's to every social media site. For that reason I say no. I understand the sentiment though. Our kids are more fond of snapchat than social media though. They have accounts so they can look at stuff but they seldom post anything on IG/FB/Tiktok

No because it isn't going to work. Besides that although I agree that younger children shouldn't have access to social media, it shouldn't be the government's business how parents choose to raise their children.

It’s everyone’s business how those children turn out and what they carry into the society. Transgender nonsense is a big chat topic with minors

We're not talking about transgender stuff though, we're talking about social media.

I think because of social media young people are exposed to these .... shall we say, alternative lifestyles, at too young an age.

Me too but that's our business. I don't want the government raising my children. As I want to be the one to have a say (when the time comes) of what age I think that they're old enough for social media because as long as they're showing signs that they can be trusted with it, I think that anywhere between 13-15 is a good age for it in my book.

Yes, 16 may be a bit too old. Thirteen sounds better.

16 would be the age I would say that they get their own phone. 13 possibly social media on a laptop with supervision. I couldn't supervise them if they had their own phone at that age though. However, if the kid proves to be responsible enough I might possibly bend for them and say 15.
