The CFPB is under the Federal Reserve.
I'm wondering how there could be "price gouging" with the CFPB on the job protecting consumers???
How could there have been the FTX scam with the CFPB on the job?

The CFPB's creation was authorized by the Dodd–Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act, whose passage in 2010 was a legislative response to the financial crisis of 2007–08 and the subsequent Great Recession[3] and is an independent bureau within the Federal Reserve.[4] The CFPB's status as an independent agency has been subject to many challenges in court. In June 2020, the United States Supreme Court ruled that the president can remove the director without cause but allowed the agency to remain in operation. The Bureau is one of the agencies that Project 2025 advocates that Congress should cut.

This is one example of an agency that needs to be eliminated by Elon Musk's commission.

when did "price gouging" become the purview of an agency that has tried to protect banking customers?

no. those institutions have been shown to be at ",pral hazard" (a vanking term, not religious) if they are not strictly regulated. the cpfb was created as a 2008 crash reform, not as a check on inflation of gasoline and groceries.

Trump and Musk's goal is not to eliminate all government or any government agencies that are accomplishing good and necessary things for Americans. If the CFBP is doing that, they will be safe from any significant changes.

If they are not accomplishing any measurable good/necessary things for Americans, hopefully they will be given a reasonable shut down date to give employees a reasonable time to find new jobs if they want them, and then they'll be gone.

So how did they do with the FTX scam and regulating crypto generically? They are a waste.

Read the wiki link in the OP. CFPB was created by Pocohantas and put under the Fed to keep them hidden.
Trump and the USSC put them under the president, but they really need to be eliminated.

Warren promoted it yes, but it was Barack Obama made it happen. And if it is indeed useless or ineffective or unnecessary, I would expect it to be subject to the chopping block. The concept itself I don't object to but I do question whether it could not be just as effectively administrated under another department where it wouldn't need its own infrastructure etc.
