Starmer didn't act in total isolation or in a vacuum.

Now they paid a huge price for the incompetence back in 2020 with the lock downs plus BREXIT at the same time with the Poles getting tossed out (seemed to have no problem kicking them out).
And the Poles were driving trucks (lorries) to all the supermarkets.
Everyone almost starved then because of the massive blunder of not getting an agreement signed.
Nobody minded the Polish truck drivers....they worked and somewhat blended in as always....

So here we are 6 years later....
Gubbermint seemed to have forgotten why everyone voted for BREXIT to begin with (unrestricted immigration was on the top of the list of reasons).
Think the right choices have been made?
