Good morning
I woke up early
Today is badnji dan (Christmas Eve)
I today eat posna ( fasting) meals usually fish the main meal will be in the evening today after church service with family
I go to church with a serb friend and neighbour (he drives)
There will be after service in the church yard paljenje badnjaka and music and hot liquor and and hot wine (hot means cooked)
Sretan badnji dan
Paljenje badnjaka is a traditional Serbian Orthodox custom observed on Badnji dan (Christmas Eve). The badnjak is an oak branch or young oak tree, symbolizing strength, life, and continuity. In the evening, it is lit or burned—often symbolically today—to represent the fire that warmed the newborn Christ in Bethlehem, as well as the triumph of light over darkness. The ritual is a prayer for peace, health, and prosperity in the household and marks the spiritual beginning of Christmas.
