As we all heard, a demand was building in the US House of Representatives for the "Epstein Files" to be released by Jeffrey Epstein's best friend and his inept Attorney General.
In what has become a de rigueur act of cowardice, House Speaker Mike Johnson shut down the House and shooed everyone away. MAGA Christian Mike then dropped to his knees and prayed to baby Jesus his coverup of pedophilia worked.
The second prong of this strategy has been Donald Trump re-activating all his golden oldies to distract his followers from the Epstein quagmire.
Rosie O'Donnell!
Hillary!
Comey!
Russia Russia Russia!
Letitia!
So here's the thing.
The "Epstein Files Transparency Act" is still sitting in committee, and it will be there when the House readjourns on September 2.
On September 3, House Republicans and Democrats will be holding a presser. They will have victims of Epstein and Maxwell there. They will be demanding the Trump administration release "The Epstein Files".
Here's another thing.
If a bill sits in a committee for more than 30 days, it becomes eligible for a discharge petition. This bill has been in the rules committee since July 15.
Ordinarily, the House Speaker can quash any bill he doesn't like forever, but that only works so long as he has his whole MAGA team behind him.
In an amazing break from unity, MAGA Mike does not the whole MAGA team behind him on this issue. There are 11 Republican co-sponsors of the transparancy act. That's enough for a discharge petition to succeed.
If the petition succeeds, the bill wil be moved from committee to a vote on the House floor.
At that point, imagine the optics when your vote is counted in big white letters on the TV screen for the whole counrry to see.
Q: How are you going to vote on the Epstein Files Transparency Act, congressman?
A: Well, bluster-bluster-bluster, I haven't read it yet bluster-bluster-bluster, so we will have to wait and see bluster-bluster-bluster...
I wonder if MAGA Mike is hunting down those 11 GOP co-sponsors and promising them a lifetime supply of suckage right now.

Here's the announcement of the forthcoming presser:
