In the Senate, growing optimism about a gun deal.

"There is a framework for a bill," says one source.

Susan Collins: "rapid progress."

Blumenthal: "productive and encouraging"

The group has broken into subgroups working on different parts of a bill.

We have been there before

It will take ten Republicans
Republicans will back away at the last minute over some technicality

and they should .. because "doing something" isn't going to mitigate the problem. It's a knee jerk response, and we don't even enforce the zillion other gun legislation laws currently in place.

Why not focus on basic aspects .. like securing schools, locking doors, minimize entrances etc? and / or mental and behavioral health?

Doing something is what an overwhelming percentage of the public wants

Red Flags and Background Checks are a start

Because mass killers target more than schools

Movie Theaters, malls, WalMart, Supermarkets, concerts, restaurants, nightclubs……all have been targeted

Note: They STILL refuse to address this as a mental health crisis (unless they are referring to law abiding gun owners).

It's amazing watching America slowly lose it's 2nd amendment like the rest of the world already has.

SPLENDID TIMES.....to be a tyrant !

Meanwhile....
Over on YT at the Guns & Cowards channel......

More endless whining....still not a single effort to come up with a plan or organize.
1000 posts about what they "should" do, or what we "need" to do blah blah blah...but NEVER what they are GOING to do. Not a chance.
But hey....."A link to my merch" below ((yep, they got their priorities in order don't they?)
Same with that black guys gun channel. All talk...nothing but endless chatter patter.

You were right BL....
Easy now...I side with Conservatives, I vote with Conservatives BUT they are the most nutless, spinless, big mouth pieces of shit that ever were. Come on man...they didn’t have the balls to keep heterosexual white Christians cool in a nation founded, built, run and funded by heterosexual white Christians. The Left has owned their sackless asses for decades....Sad but true.

You are so over the top it's absolutely annoying to read your posts about this topic. I remember the thread where you whined and moaned about the Supreme Court never doing anything to protect the Second Amendment, and when I posted the decisions that very much protected the second Amendment in Heller and McDonald you just skipped over my post and kept on whining. Guess what? The Supreme Court is about to issue another decision that's going to protect the Second Amendment. Deal with it.

Doing something....anything doen't get it done.

Do you really think that a criminal will get a background check from another criminal selling him a gun
on the black market?
jotathought's suggestion of securing schools, locking doors and minimizing entrances seems to be
a better approach to the problem, than just adding more layers to laws already in place and not being enforced.
Let Common Sense prevail

Repubs are trying to thread a dangerous needle. Public sentiment calls for them to agree to something. But they can't agree to too much for fear a consequent decline in gun violence leaves them exposed to being blamed, in part, for the epidemic of gun violence. Meaning, as they always have, they care more about the political consequences of gun control measures than the lives of human beings that could be saved.

It helps the schools, why don't you like the idea? Because it can't cover everything? It's a start.
What's wrong with you?

Because it doesn’t address the threat
Close one door and he will find another

We need to do what we can to keep him from carrying a gun through that door
