Secrecy within the Federal Reserve. Why is it that in many situations they can only be audited and accountable internally?

The Fed has a vested interest in the success of the US economy.
So does the government. That doesn't mean they're playing honestly.

The Fed may not take tax dollars directly, but it extracts wealth through monetary policy, inflation, and interest rate shifts, often benefiting financial institutions first while everyday people absorb the costs later. Its supposed independence from politics doesn’t make it neutral; it just means decisions are made behind closed doors, without voters holding them accountable. When a single institution can create money, set borrowing costs, and effectively decide who gains or loses in the economy, its “vested interest” is not automatically aligned with the public’s best interest. Saying they can’t afford to play politics ignores the reality. Their choices already are political, just disguised as economic policy.

No tax dollars are used to fund the Fed. It is self supporting from the income it earns running your economy.

The Fed has a vested interest in the success of the US economy. They can’t afford to play politics because too much rests on the results.

To my understanding the federal reserve is neither federal, nor a reserve
