Is it going to be viable?

This chap looked at the second hand market on a BMW 330e, 8 year old, and priced cheaply (as BMW's go) at £7,500.

So he enquired with the MBW dealership that if the main Hybrid battery needs replaced, how much would it cost? The answer being £10,000 -

Personally, I would never own a hybrid or EV, and the risk factor on wallets and purses with second hand versions possibly wanting a replacement battery, just not viable.

Good point. Force the manufacturer to provide 100% lifetime battery replacement warranty. They will show their commitment or they will abandon the failed idea.

Well, some EV's depreciate over $600 per day!! Won't take long for them to be cheaper than a new battery.

Forcing the manufacturers to give life time warranty on batteries will just make them go bust.

EVs are not worth saving or fixing up, they are /disposable/ cars--- this makes them worth even less. II can find a 1940 Ford that is like new and worth far more than original. There will BE no classic EVs. Older EVs are simply OBSOLETE. Who in their right mind would pay $15,000 for a used gas car (even a nice one) if the seller told them up front that the motor only had a few hundred miles life left in it and the replacement would cost $20,000 NOW?

All that will do is up the original cost of the auto so that the seller has the cost of replacement built into the selling price! Then that EV REALLY won't sell for crap! Now that $80,000 EV which replaces a $50,000-$60,000 gas car now sells for $90,000-$100,000!

Hybrids now typically come with a 150,000 mile warranty on the battery. And we're finding out hybrid vehicles are also more reliable, due to less wear and tear on the engines and the braking systems.

No source for this dubious claim, FAIL!

Yes, but battery tech is at a plateau. EVs are the future 20 or 30 years from now.

Which is undoubtably true what I have objected from the start was the stupid government forcing the EV cars on us while phasing out the ICE cars while the EV wasn't market ready the way HYBRID cars are now where they are now a generally better buy than the ICE cars these days.

Hybrid cars are the obvious bridge to EV's from ICE cars, but the government wanted to hurry it up by brute force that pissed a lot of people which the ill will last a while and a reason why Trump got elected as he was going to remove the mandate a popular campaign promise.

I’m not sure they will ever be able to make them anything more than a niche.

I dont care what you think i made up. Also, your resistance to the simple fact is funny and makes you look dumb. Talk about clinging to a narrative...

Still waiting for a source for your claims, your failure to do the obvious damages your credibility your immature name calling doesn't help you at all.

Thus YOU ARE the one who look dumb.

Good, I suggest you hold your breath.

Those with a maturity level above 9 years old will do a simple Google search.

You idiot YOU were the one who made the claim without evidence thus I gave YOU the
opportunity to support YOUR claim.

It is clear you are running on bullshit.

And I gave you the opportunity to look it up. Do or dont, I really could not care less. I wasn't here to convince a low IQ climate denier of a simple, easily found fact.
