Sec. Noem cancels contracts for Offshore Patrol Cutters due to cost overruns

It’s amazing there are still people out there who believe the people who run the post office are capable of doing any job better than a private company.

If a private company delivers late or overpriced then it’s because they’ve been led to believe they can.
I don't know man, I just labeled-up a package going by USPS Ground Advantage and it was less than $7.00. Given the weight and size I checked it twice to make sure it was that cheap!

Just for laughs I checked what UPS Ground would have charged and it was $22.00!

USPS Ground Advantage is the "Deal of the Day" as far as shipping goes.

My take on it is that this is a shot across the bow at contractors who are, undeniably, raking in money hand over fist by foot dragging and taking advantage of those contracts with their overrun loopholes.

As I stated, I have no issue with that being addressed.

Maybe also they can take the $$ designated for finishing these ships and direct it to maintenance of existing ships, which also seems to be an issue.

Yeah... having spent a couple of years in the military and a decade in other Federal service that's true enough.

Which is why I suggested bringing-in Korean and European shipbuilding expertise to get it set-up properly.

Left to their own devices private companies can be just as incompetent and can milk the taxpayer as badly as Gubmint Slugs.

At least if Navy ships are built by a Navy Yard then there will be daunting penalties for corruption and contract-milking.

Damned-if-you-do and Damned-if-you-don't, I suppose.

Yep. Perhaps it's time to begin crucifying (metaphorically, in the law-courts) some of these underperforming/nonperforming contractors.
