Jolene Van Alstine has a rare parathyroid disease, known as normocalcemic primary hyperparathyroidism (nPHPT) — and it causes her to experience extreme bone pain, nausea, and vomiting.

What's more, Van Alstine can't get the surgery she needs to remove her parathyroid — but there are currently no surgeons in Saskatchewan who can perform the surgery.

Reported by Right to Life News, Van Alstine commented on her experience with the ailment, "My friends have stopped visiting me. I’m isolated. I’ve been alone lying on the couch for eight years, sick and curled up in a ball, pushing for the day to end”.

About 20 years ago, Auburn University's Veterinary School bought an MRI machine for the horses. It also came in handy for football players that wouldn't fit in the regular MRIs.

'Healthcare' is a misnomer. In America we get 'sickcare' as the big pharma companies come up with more and more drugs for, IMO, questionable sick conditions. Doctors have become drug dispensers and the cost of drugs is driven up by health insurance companies.

'Healthcare' is a misnomer. In America we get 'sickcare' as the big pharma companies come up with more and more drugs for, IMO, questionable sick conditions. Doctors have become drug dispensers and the cost of drugs is driven up by health insurance companies.

You know what they say about opinions. How about some facts to back that up?

My grandson has been cured of leukemia. My son survived testicular cancer. My wife has two artificial hips without which she would be unable to walk. I have a liver from a 17-year-old keeping me alive right now, and 5 stents in my heart to keep me from dying of a massive heart attack that was coming. I once got spontaneous bacterial peritonitis and almost died. If I had been 3 hours later to the hospital and the doctor told me I would have been dead. Quick action by Vanderbilt's emergency department saved my life. My insurance company spent over $3 million dollars keeping my ass going. I got what I paid for about 50,000 times over. You may ***** about healthcare, but I think they have done a pretty good job of keeping me and those I love very much alive. Thank you for your attention in this matter.

Well, probably not, just fucked up in different ways. One used to wait just a few days, maybe 1-2 weeks at most to get an MRI, we have so many now in our new, improved healthcare that last year when I needed to get an MRI, I was lucky to see one within 2 months.

My wife went from her urologist's office in September and they sent her to get an MRI that afternoon to determine if she had a kidney stone. She went and had one done and she did have a stone. The did another one in October to see that it was gone.

If the government tried to kill them, it would show its usual incompetence (any government, not just Canada's), and a person could easily escape them.

The government is trying to help. That's when disaster happens.

This is the result. When it becomes obvious that the help is no help, the government makes it mandatory. At least that's the way it worked in history. Like our own beloved Obamacare, governments have learned to make their "help" mandatory from the get-go, since they know we are going to hate it.
