The teen was under anesthesia for the procedure but as I'm sure you realize there is always post operative pain. It can take weeks for a circumcision to fully heal.

Again as long as you think that there was no pain it's OK? And are you really comparing the pain of a diaper rash to that of circumcision?

Tell me why do many countries ban ear cropping in dogs for being inhumane and many veterinarians in this country refuse to crop ears or dock tails even though it's not illegal yet it's perfectly fine to circumcise boys?

I have someone close to me that was not circumsized and developed a severe infection when he was young. He was too embarrassed to tell anyone about it so it just got worse. He wishes every day that he was circumcized as a child.

I'm not comparing the two pains, but simply saying that children are caused pain all of the time. Most of the time they don't remember. The average person who is circumcized doesn't remember, and isn't affected by it later in life...that is of course unless their obssessed with it. I haven't given it a second thought until now, and it still doesn't bother me.

And that's a reason to continue the practice?

When the only reason one can come up with is "It's done all the time" is that a good enough reason for intelligent people to continue said tradition?

No one is subjecting all boys to circumcision. This is a parents individual decision. There are no laws forcing anyone to do anything.

I would think you boys would have a bigger problem if all women had their breasts cut off. ...just saying.

I never said anything about the ability to pee with or without a foreskin. I did say one of the reasons circumcision happens is so that little boys will look like their daddy.

When boys are little they notice...particularly when you're trying to teach them to pee. They also have a habit of walking in on you when you're in the shower. They want to know if theirs is the same; they also want theirs to be the same. They question it otherwise and sometimes feel "left out" of the family even when they get older.

I say that circumsicion and ear piercing are personal choices concerning one's own body. We should not force it on anyone else, newborns or otherwise.
