There was no press conference, but the mayor has allocated up to $5 million for each eligible black, even though he admits there is no money to pay for it.

Notable, as well, that the payouts would go to any black born before 1996 who can prove he’s a descendant of a slave. These young blacks have been favored for admissions to college and grad school, jobs, and promotions their ENTIRE lives, and yet the Left still thinks that a 30-year-old black who got picked over a more-qualified white for the Ivy League, and then law school, and then a law firm, due to darker skin, is entitled to reparations.

Thankfully, this is nothing more than the virtue-signaling we’ve come to expect from the Left, as there’s no money to pay it.

Japanese owned lots of properties that were taken away from them just because of their yellow skin. They weren’t lynch because whites probably saw them as intelligent, civilized, and productive people. Funny how the guy who placed them in camps was Roosevelt. I find it odd that after the Supreme Court shot down DEI, blacks called Asians who cheered racist.

I worked in admissions and can answer that: the universities are run by leftists who prioritize “diversity” above getting the most capable (regardless of race) - and they set quotas for blacks, usually around 12 - 14% of the student body.

The challenge was that in order to get to that 13% or so, they had to lower the GPA cut-off to get in more blacks. We had blacks get in with GPAs of 3.2 whereas whites were rejected with 3.6.

But it was more complex than that. They ran a risk of lowering the academic cut-off so low for blacks that they wouldn’t be able to keep up with those admitted under the white (or Asian - even higher!) cut-offs. So it was a matter of compromise - they didn’t quite get to 13%, but 10% was considered OKish if it came to that.

P.S. About 1 in 3 blacks qualified under the white standard, whereas 2 out 3 blacks would have been rejected if white.

Lowell High School in SF, a gifted high school, was entrenched with DEI because Asians overwhelmingly represented there follow by whites. Leftists decided to end meritocracy.
