While treating the wounds, surgeons found the large parasites, which may be reflective of poor nutrition and health in North Korea's military, the hospital said. Doctors measured the soldier as being 1.7 meters (5.6 feet) tall, but weighing just 60 kilograms (132 pounds).

The worms are the result of using human feces as fertilizer, and it is presumed that the "problem" is fairly common in the Workers' Paradise, which stopped distributing commercial fertilizers many years ago. The worms are asymptomatic (you don't know you have them), and relatively harmless, despite being icky in the extreme. Also, there are drugs that remove them fairly quickly by killing them, whence you shit them out.
