Russias military couldn't take their far weaker neighbour next door.
Unless the Russians don't love their children anymore and choose a nuclear war, they would be fools to confront America.
This is why NATO is increasing their budgets, they know what risks lies ahead. The West is going to need the best intelligence agents, not just SIGINT but also HUMINT. It's what has allowed China to be so effective, they aren't just relying on hackers alone, they are infiltrating and building relationships for their interests.
The West must do the same be it Russia, China or even Iran.

Russia is just posturing for the image. If they wanted the Mullahs to have a nuke, they would have given them one.
The last thing they want is Iran with a nuke. It would be followed by a Saudi nuke in response, and then by a Turkish nuke in response to that.
There is no way Russia would tollerate that set up.
