What happens when the world's biggest military superpower spreads itself thin in never-ending wars ?

In simulated World War III scenarios, the U.S. continues to lose against Russia and China, two top war planners warned last week. “In our games, when we fight Russia and China, blue gets its ass handed to it" RAND analyst David Ochmanek said Thursday.

RAND's wargames show how US Armed Forces - colored blue on wargame maps - experience the most substantial losses in one scenario after another and still can't thwart Russia or China - which predictably is red - from accomplishing their objectives: annihilating Western forces.

"We lose a lot of people. We lose a lot of equipment. We usually fail to achieve our objective of preventing aggression by the adversary," he warned.

In the next military conflict, which some believe may come as soon as the mid-2020s, all five battlefield domains: land, sea, air, space, and cyberspace, will be heavily contested, suggesting the U.S. could have a difficult time in achieving superiority as it has in prior conflicts.

Ah well, the only proper response to this is ...

Somebody is obviously trying to keep Trump from eyeballing a lot of useless 'defense' contracts, including Diane 'Warbucks' Einstein, Red China's American representative and a great benefactor to her hubby's 'defense' contracting..

From someone who lacks the communication skills in which to illustrate their own original thoughts, probably so.

lol what's 'original' about your rubbish? We've been hearing that since 1945, moron.

Oh noes!!

Quick, throw some money at RAND, only they can save us!

Perhaps it's time to update the simulation software?

Wait for the starving bear to look the other way, then attack.
Why China will “reclaim” Siberia

They came very close to having that war in the late 1950's early 1960's; only the Viet Nam escalation and the need for a front against the U.S. and SEATO kept it from going hot. I do look for China to move on some of that territory within the next 10 years. We see them trying to sedge themselves in with the Iranians and other ME countries now.

I'll likely start a new and separate thread on this, but place here to revive topic/concept of war gaming or conflict simulations;

The US could lose up to 900 warplanes fighting a Chinese invasion of Taiwan but would emerge victorious, says think tank

...
The US and Taiwan would likely be able to fend off a Chinese invasion, but it would come with heavy losses on both sides, a think tank analysis finds.

The Washington-based think tank, the Center for Strategic and International Studies, has been conducting war games to imagine how such a conflict would play out.

"The good news is that at the end of all the iterations so far, there is an autonomous Taiwan," Mark Cancian, a senior adviser at the Center for Strategic and International Studies, told Insider.

Im HIGHLY skeptical of this simulation. Something tells me it isnt a fair scenario. For example, if the idea is that the US loses when it tries to take over Russia and China, that isnt a fair situation (though im confident that we could do that much easier than people think). Why do we have to go to them? What happens when they try to invade the US? They would get their fucking ass handed to them bad if they tried coming here. No one can take mainland US. The entire world united together couldn't take mainland US, unless it was vaporized with nukes first, but what would be the point of taking it if it was a nuclear wasteland?

If nuclear weapons are included in this war, then no one is going to win. You arent going to stop the US from launching their nukes, no matter how awesome your surprise attack is. Our nukes are way too protected and spread out all over the place for any first strike to take them out, and the nukes on our subs are completely untouchable.
