I saw this movie in 1983. I was 18 years old. I thought it was awesome then.
But I am 60 now. We were looking for something watch and wondered into this one.
"Oh yeah, this is a good movie"
It was. In 1983 when I was 18.
In 2025, at 60 - it is a movie that critics love to love. It is artsy, and shot in black and white, star spangled and full off symbolism of all manner.
As for me, it is very disjointed, no actual plot and just wanders around filming actors who are playing teens wandering around.

Wasted an hour and a half of my life with this one.

Sadly, almost nothing from our childhood holds up. All those old tv shows from the 60s, 70's, 80's, 90's, etc, suck balls. Total trash, every last one of them. Fuck nostalgia. Nostalgia can blow me.

Yeah, Star Trek was great back in the day, but it sucks now. The 3 Stooges is god awful horseshit in 2025. I Love Lucy can fuck off too. Little House on the Prairie, MacGyver, Matlock, Miami Vice, The A Team, they ALL SUCK NOW!!!! Name the top show from every year, they all absolutely blow in the modern age. That lame crap doesnt hold up one iota. Thats simply a fact and anyone who is cornball enough to disagree should die in a fire. :dunno:

Nothing is as good today as it was in the 60's, 70's, and 80's because we were all stoned back then.

If you don't believe me, go see this movie. Like WTF were we smoking then?

Get stoned today and watch that old stuff. I promise you wont think its the bees knees anymore.

Name an old show that compares with Game of Thrones, Breaking Bad, etc. You cant.

In 100 years, Game of Thrones will still hold up because, it doesnt reek (no pun intended) of this time period. Star Trek was a futuristic show, but the beehive hairdos instantly tell you it was made in the 60s. Old shows suck in this regard. The music from those old shows ALSO reeks of their time periods. Game of Thrones doesnt make that mistake. GOT isnt using 2000's techno or rap music anywhere in its 8 seasons, but Hogan's Heroes certainly uses that 60s tv show music horseshit. Thats the difference.

Is this the Rumblefish by SE Hinton? It’s one of my favorite books.

Yes, that is what the movie is based on.
But instead of it being a group of junior high kids, it is a group of high school kids and the "leader" is the older brother of one of them who use to be a leader.
