I'm somewhat sad he's gone from politics, used to be hilarious every four years watching his followers get all excited about internet straw polls to convince themselves this time he was going to win. The routine would go:

1. Internet poll for prez candidate goes up on some mainstream website
2. Ron Paul forums all sticky messages to go vote for him, the masses respond
3. Ron Paul wins straw poll, 70% of votes yay
4. Ron Paul fans giddily chatter about this time the message has gotten thru, he's legit
5. Ron Paul gets 3% of actual vote
6. Ron Paul forums outraged at voter fraud, mainstream media manipulation of masses, etc.

Wait four years, repeat

Paul's ideas aren't completely meritless.

It says it all that his fellow kooks targeted the main guy in Iowa running the GOP voting process in order to rig the results in his favor.

Ron Paul and other fringe people like him will never win the GOP because their hatred of the US military doesn't sell among conservatives....he should go hang out with liberals that hate the US military.
