‘The state of Florida is committed to $245 million toward the construction of "Alligator Alcatraz," the Everglades immigration detention facility which is due to close in days. An email obtained by The Associated Press Wednesday from Kevin Guthrie, head of the Florida Division of Emergency Management, indicates the facility will likely soon be empty, after a federal judge ruled it must cease to operate. Newsweek contacted Governor DeSantis's office and the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) for comment on Thursday via email outside of regular office hours.’

Republicans excel at wasting millions of dollars.

I don't think Florida paid for it, did they? I thought this was Federal Funds....a Trump incentive for States to build detention centers?

How was it “wasteful”?

Seems like it is well worth the money to me.

Pro crime, pro illegal immigrant democrats actually wasted it. Up until their involvement it was a great use of funds.

I never understood replies like this one. Basically you are saying "yeah, both parties waste money foolishly".

Now, no argument from me there.

It ain't over till the fat lady sings....
SCOTUS will overturn this eventually.
The installation was already built and little to nothing was done to the environment around the in air field.
Formerly named Big Cypress Airport aka Dade-Collier Training and Transition Airport.
Although the facility was unfinished and essentially abandoned, it was retained by the Miami-Dade local government as a general aviation and training airport. In the 1970s, it was used heavily by Pan Am and Eastern Airlines for commercial training, as the long runway at Dade-Collier could accommodate aircraft as large as Boeing 747s and was equipped with a relatively new instrument landing system.
The idea that the use by the Federal Gov't, ICE for deportation of illegal aliens is not an environmental disaster as DSA Marxist Democrat Leftists and environmentalists would have you believe.

A liberal judge temporarily closed it.
It will be overturned.
Don't forget the other one in Jacksonville, Fl.

You need to do a bit more research before you post your yarns.
