Problem is the rightwing whackjob is MAUREEN DOWD at the NY TIMES!

Uh oh

So much for the savior-based economy.

Tim Geithner, the learned and laconic civil servant and financial
engineer, did not sweep in and infuse our shaky psyches with
confidence. For starters, the 47-year-old’s voice kept cracking.

Escorting us over the rickety, foggy bridge from TARP to Son of TARP
by way of TALF — don’t ask — Geithner did not, as the president said
when he drew on the wisdom of Fred Astaire, inspire us to pick
ourselves up, dust ourselves off and start all over again.

Yes, even some of the institutional liberals are looking around at the trainwreck-start of this new administration and wondering what is going on. Despite their liberalism, they still love America - and fear we are heading down a disastrous path of self-destruction.

See that is how I have viewed Obama the last couple weeks. He seems unsure of himself. He's not Jack Kennedy, that's for sure.

Exactly. That is why he is now being shielded from open questions from the media - he goes from one completely orchestrated appearance to the next as his few unscripted moments with the media have exposed his utter uncertainty.

Geez, he didn't seem that sure of himself WITH the shielding.

And you expect some one with his resume to understand international finance exactly why? Or for that matter much beyond the appropriate means of organizing street demonstrations.

I know but Kennedy exuded confidence in tough times. Obama hasn't done that so far.

I would be much less comfortable if somebody sat before the committee and appeared cocksure he could fix this mess.

They are going to do stuff that will be helptful to some of us, and not so helpful to any of us because they simply do NOT know how to fix this mess, folks.

They are trying to mitigate the problemsassociated with our broken capitalist system, but since this capitalist system is unlike any other capitalist system we have ever had, they are taking stabs in the dark based on their very limited understanding of what's really happening.

I am not happy with what I see being done, but then I was even less happy with what they have allowed and encouraged to be done to our system that got us into this mess to begin with.

If we really wanted to fix this system we really ought to start off by shooting some of the greedy CEOs who rode their banks into the ground and then took enormous salaries despite completely incompetent.

Oh, it's the board of directors who are responsible for that, you say?

Okay, shoot those fucking idiots, too, then.

Oh I have LOTS of confidence in President Hussein...

I am confident that he is an empty suit...

I am confident that his ideological underpinnings leave him ill-prepared for ANY KIND of leadership and prone to accept the irrational premise(s) of socialism; subjecting this nation to prolonged economic maliase.

I am confident that his moral underpinnings leave him wholly incapable of moral leadership.

I am confident that his religious, ideological and moral underpinnings leave him prone to: lend the benefit of any potential doubt to our enemies... to support and promote the decline of cultural standards; the result of which will be potentially catastrophic to the overall health of the American Culture.

Oh I am VERY CONFIDENT in Our Grand PuBah... the Lord of the Idiots... President Hussein Obama; the first President since the US went to war with Hussein and Osama.

ROFL... I mean hey... who could doubt him?

Obviously the Fairness Doctrine must be expanded to include the print media so right-wing nut jobs such as Maureen Dowd can't exercise undue influence upon public opinion.

What choice was there? McCain said himself that he was totally clueless as well on finance....

Seems like this is what wall street counts on....no one in congress understanding the crap they do on wall street....

Well... the choice for President this past election was the analogical equivilent of choice between a Shit Sandwich or a bowl of double crunch SHIT Icecream...

Frankly it worked out fine, the best possible outcome; McCain is a fascist and would have run to push this Pelosi $pendulou$ package... which would have forever saddled the Republicans with responsiblity for the economic ass pounding we're about to endure because of it.

As it stands now, the left OWNS this debacle, from which there is NO ESCAPE!

The great part is we discovered Sarah Palin... who will be the first female President of the United States and how cool is THAT?

Why does it not surprise me that you support someone who is not only amazingly ignorant but who is also lacking any intellectual curiosity, too?

They should be afraid because that's exactly what is happening.
