Reporting on the high profile case on Wednesday, the head of the SBU, Ukraine’s national security service, Sergey Gritsak said Babchenko was alive and unhurt.

Same like Teresa May said: "Putin killed Skripal because only Russia has gas Novichok and the motive". Sure, later we all found out that basically, every NATO country had a sample of Novichok and Skripal and his daughter were not killed but the public opinion in Western countries has been already formed and over hundred of Russian diplomats have already been expelled.

First, journalists will no longer accept Ukrainian official statements on face value. This is good practice anyway, given the increasingly creative endeavours emerging from the government in Kiev.

Second, news of threats to journalists will now be doubted at every turn.

Third, nothing that comes out of Ukraine is really how it seems; everything Ukraine says is to show Russia in a bad light.

The Kremlin’s official spokesperson Dmitry Peskov declined to comment, letting the incident speak for itself.
