Rand Paul recently had a meeting with Republicans working on replacement plans, and ended up walking out because they wanted to keep Medicaid expansion... and he was pissed off about it.

Because they KNOW if they repeal Obamacare without something to replace it with that basically still covers everyone, this will be their last term. Taking away entitlements is political suicide. The GOP has to think about midterms, in which they are at serious risk of getting destroyed right now. The Republican replacement plans in the US congress are basically just rebrands of the PPACA.

This is coming from all the Tea Party candidates that were elected. They only know how to say NO, and then nothing gets done. Tax reform needs to happen, regardless of what goes on along the border. And they better not be fighting over a 1000 mile WALL, that would have a 1000 holes and tunnels underneath it as soon as it was built.

Oh and by the way, the vast majority of the opposition to the bill is because they consider it a tax increase and don't want that on their record despite the tax not being on Americans. They are essentially voting out of reelection fears.

Not to mention that the US is more dependent on Mexican trade than Mexico is on the United States. If both countries cut off trade it would cause mutual pain, but the impact would be far greater on the American economy.
