When House Republican leaders rushed to leave Washington for a long August break, they seemed desperate to quell the anger among their supporters about the Trump administration’s backtracking on a promise to release files related to its investigation of the accused sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein.

But halfway through a five-week congressional recess, the clamor shows little sign of quieting. While Republicans had hoped that legal rulings might insulate them from having to confront the issue, the courts have yet to intervene. Back in their districts, lawmakers have continued to face questions about the Epstein investigation from their constituents. And the Justice Department, which ignored a Friday deadline from Senate Democrats and is set to miss another on Tuesday to comply with a bipartisan subpoena to provide the materials to Congress, has yet to release anything.

On Monday, Representative James R. Comer of Kentucky, the Republican chairman of the House Oversight Committee, said that the Justice Department would begin sharing its Epstein records with his panel by Friday. He also suggested that the release of the documents would take some time, all but ensuring that questions about the Epstein affair will drag on for weeks.

At the same time, Democrats, in some cases with the help of Republicans, have laid a series of procedural traps that will make it all but impossible for the G.O.P. to avoid confronting the issue again when Congress reconvenes in September.

Activating the D.C.N.G. on the pretense of threats against government officials rings hollow. Crime down in D.C.,
just it is down in Oakland and Black led cities. Not even the failed talks with Putin over Ukraine is able divert attetntion away from Epstein. It is the Albatross around Trump's neck.

With so many high officials and captains of industry involved, nobody wants to turn the country upside down. Both the previous administration and Trump obviously have serious reservations.

It is the DEMOCRATS who are more afraid of what the Grand Jury records might reveal.

Which has nothing to do with the subject of this thread.

The liberals want dirt on Trump, to hell with the country.
There are, though very few and far between judging by the direction of dialogue in this and other similar threads, genuine America-first Americans who aren't generally so apathetic or complicit to the likelihood of foreign agents of a foreign nation running a coup on the American congress/government via honeytrap type blackmail operations.

I think that those who want to portray themselves as country-first yet routinely ignore the actual threat to it by way of these types of operations should be a little less eager to trivialize the matter or to otherwise routinely omit that factor from dialogue if they expect to be taken seriously by genuinely serious people.

Trivializing and omitting from dialogue the likelihood of foreign agents of a foreign nation operating from within our government and running a coup on the American congress/government via honeytrap type blackmail operations is, in my view, effectively saying 'to hell with the country.''

Unfortunately, it seems like every single thread regarding the matter thus far does precisely that very thing.

They call themselves patriots. Yet anyone who dares to speak out their leader, we become "Un-American". A single minded devotion to just one man and disagreeing that man gets you called "Commie'. Patriots believe in Free Speech. Freedom of the Press and the Right to Assembly.

Welcome 1984.
both ' liberals' & conservatives want the truth to come out... no matter who.

why don't you?

Because they hate the truth. They are truth aveerse.

why was donny on epstein's plane numerous times, when he had his OWN plane?

I don't know. Neither do you but you're trying to make something out of it.

Trump was never on the island.
