Old people and otherwise immuno compromised people die more often from Covid (also flu and other common infections). Those groups are of course also more likely to be vaccinated than young people who have much lower Covid vaccination rates.

In large medical studies vaccinated people of similar cohorts died or got hospitalized less often from Covid.

Remember those stupid masks we had to wear? The CDC wanted us to wear 3 or 4 masks at one time! WTF were they thinking? And they wanted us to wear them while eating! I doubt any of those folks didn't wear 3 or 4 masks while they were eating their meals while we were under strict lockdowns.

In what way was it not transitory? Supply chains got fixed, consumer spending stabalized, supply and demand balanced.

Maybe it didn't blow over as quick as expected, but it did transion to rates in normal range within 2 years.
