Dave Chappelle was one of my favorites back in the day.

"It’s not just a show – it’s a social phenomenon. Dave Chappelle’s singular point of view is unleashed through a combination of stand-up bits and street-smart sketches. Hailed by critics and beloved by fans, Chappelle’s Show brings the funk and the noise – and some of the funniest comedy on television."

Well, political correctness and fear of offending someone pretty much has killed comedy. Leftists cannot laugh at themselves but only republicans, which they can only make fun of cruelly.

All that leaves us are folks like Steve Colbert who only offends people he cares nothing about: conservatives.

These days, I now often see apologies for airing reruns of old TV shows like All In The Family and Kung Fu, shows which, in their day were spectacularly popular, mainstream, and cutting edge.

Sad but true. Chappelle was a true pioneer in black comedy. He could be self-deprecating, but not afraid to offend anyone on either side of the racial lines.

Speaking of comedy, JG, people are often asked about their favorite comedy team: 3 stooges, Laurel & Hardy, Abbott and Costello, Lewis and Martin, but recently it occurred to me that folks always forget another great comedy team that was better than some of the above! One of the best comedy teams ever.

I think they are overlooked because they never worked alone but always as part of another group. Who were they?

Gilligan and The Skipper. Bob Denver and Alan Hale Jr.

Gilligan and the Skipper were a physical comedy team that were forever walking into each other, tripping over each other, hurting each other, and getting tangled up together. They were really the secret out in the open that really made Gilligan's Island.

Those two could have taken their act on the road and made a successful career just doing a stage show.

That's a fact. Bob Denver's character juxtaposed to Hale's straight man routine was classic vaudevillian humor. Those two were meant to work together.

Holy shit! That's the first time I've seen that! I actually went to school with a guy whose surname is Nigro. Wherever he is today I'll bet he's laughing his ass off. :)

I liked Jackie Mason. His video blogs on Obama were hilarious.

And l loved the Dean Martin roasts.
